Unphotographable

This is a picture I did not take

of Ethiopian musician Alemu Aga, when my friend walked into Alemu's housewares store in Addis Ababa and walked straight past the store's employees to a back room where Alemu's sacred harps were propped-up against backstock and boxes, and after brazenly plucking one of the harps (which made the otherworldy yet familiar buzzing sound heard in Aga's music), we turned and walked to the front of the store where Alemu was sitting, and I introduced myself and told him that his music moved me deeply, all the way on the other side of the world in California.
